We get it, there are a lot of Persian breeders out there so why choose us?

Why Choose Nautilus Persians?

Health-Guaranteed Kittens

We are a PKD/FELV/FIV and parasite free cattery.  All of our breeding cats are genetically screened using Optimal Selection and are 100% genetically clear guaranteeing that your kitten is also 100% genetically clear.

We stand behind the health of our kittens. We will provide a 2 year genetic health guarantee. Should the kitten expire within the time of
ownership by Buyer due to a genetic defect passed down to the kitten by their either of their parents,we'll replace the Kitten with a replacement kitten.

We do not vaccinate our kittens until they are a minimum 12 weeks old.  We understand that it has traditionally been recommended by vets to start vaccinations at 8 weeks, however studies show that vaccines are worthless until at LEAST 12 weeks of age because of maternal antibody interference. We also understand that it is recommended by many vets to booster the 8 week vaccine at 12 and 16 weeks, but our kittens come with a Rabies shot (required by law) and ONE FVRCP vaccine. Research shows just one vaccination can provide immunity for a lifetime and over vacation has been proven to increase the risk of injection site sarcomas. Furthermore cat vaccines are made from feline kidney cell lines and because of this, EVERY TIME you give a vaccine, your cat creates antibodies against their own kidney cells. This has been one of the considerations as to why many cats develop kidney disease later in life.

Premier Socialization

All Nautilus Persian kittens are raised underfoot and are spoiled members of our family. All kittens will go home well socialized. They will experience all the sights and sounds of a normal home environment: people, music, TV, the vacuum, the sound of pots and pans, the toilet flushing, our six year old son, and other pets (under supervision).

As a member of the National Cat Groomer's Institute that is currently pursuing Certified Feline Master Groomer Certification, I understand the importance of cat grooming. Our kittens are introduced to grooming and given weekly baths and blow-dried starting at 6 weeks to ensure that they are a dream to groom when they go to their forever homes.

Premium "Pure" Persian Bloodlines

At Nautilus Persians, we are proud to be a CFA registered preservation breeder of “pure” Persians. We are working hard to preserve the breed's unique characteristics, health, and genetic integrity. We do this by carefully selecting healthy breeding cats with strong "pure" Persian pedigrees that exemplify the CFA Persian Breed Standard.

What exactly is a “pure” Persian you may ask?

When a kitten/cat is registered in CFA, it is assigned a unique registration number. This number not only uniquely identifies each cat registered with CFA, it identifies the breed and color of all CFA registered cats/kittens. The Persian breed, regardless of color or coat pattern, has a registration prefix that begins with 0 or 1.

Over the years, Persians have been used to develop other breeds and are allowed as outcrosses for other breeds such as Himalayans and Exotics.

Himalayans are the result of crossing Persians with Siamese. They were bred to have the physical characteristics of a Persian with Siamese color point markings. When CFA accepted them as a new breed, they were assigned a registration prefix that begins with 3. Himalayans that are outcrossed to Persians produce offspring that do not display Siamese markings.  These non-pointed cats, regardless of color or coat pattern, are called Colorpoint Carriers or CPCs. Even when many generations have passed, the mating of two CPCs can produce pointed offspring and pass other Siamese genes to future generations. All Himalayans and their descendants, pointed and non-pointed, have a Siamese ancestry so they are assigned a registration number that begins with 3 to distinguish them from their Persian foundation.

Exotics have a registration prefix that begins with 7. When two Exotic Shorthairs are mated, they can produce longhaired offspring because the longhair gene is recessive. Exotic Shorthairs were created by crossing Persians with Burmese, American Shorthairs, and  Russian Blues to create a Persian looking cat with a short plush coat. Exotic Longhairs look identical to "pure' Persians, but their registration prefix let’s us know that they are not true "pure” Persians.

Therefore, when one or both parent cats have a registration prefix that begins with either a 3 or 7, their offspring, are assigned an Himalayan or Exotic registration number to distinguish them from their “pure” Persian relatives. “Pure” Persians have no Himalayan or Exotic in their pedigrees.

Today many breeders are advertising cats and kittens as Persians when in fact they are Colorpoint Carriers or Exotics.

When choosing to add a Persian cat or kitten we recommend that you ask for the registration numbers of the cat/kitten's parents to make sure that you are really getting a Persian and not a Colorpoint Carrier or Exotic Longhair disguised as a Persian.

Exceptional Temperaments

Our kittens are carefully bred for their sweet, gentle, calm dispositions making them the perfect companions for families and individuals alike.

Our Persians are playful yet placid, easygoing and mellow, they'll play with toys when offered, and love receiving attention and affection from their people.

Since Persians require a considerable amount of grooming in order to maintain their glamorous good looks we train them to accept grooming from an early age. Our kittens are introduced to grooming and given weekly baths and blowouts starting at 6 weeks to ensure that they are a dream to groom when they go to their forever homes.

Our Persians are very easy to train; they quickly learn the meaning of the word “no” and to respond to their names.

If you are looking for a sweet, loving, playful family member then a Nautilus Persian is the right choice for you.
